Aledo / Sierra Espuna

Aledo is a beautifully maintained little Spanish village in the mountains with bars, restaurants, town hall and a medieval Lookout Tower surrounded by the largest National Park in the region the "Sierra Espuna", a natural beauty spot of rugged green pine-clad mountainous countryside with stunning views, the park has varied plant & animal life such as wild boar, mountain cats & eagles there are plenty of picnic spots and stone barbeques for you to cook for yourself or eat in one of the Spanish restaurants. The stature of this park is mainly due to the work and reforestation campaigns carried out during the 19th century.

Aledo is also rich in ceramic and pottery making tradition and maintains many of the local natural recourses and old arts. Just before Aledo is the La Santa monastery which has been restored and turned into a hotel. The church here is stunning with almost every inch painted with scenes from the bible and the gardens are a fantastic place just to relax.
